Following the rather sterling initial line up announcement from Brecon's Green Man Festival, this year's edition just got a whole load greener, springing to life with another mound of soil-shattering wonderment in the form of genre-blurring, ear-splitting acts set to uproot half of Glanusk Park. Mancunian stalwarts Doves fly into the heart of Brecon's Beacons to headline Friday night, alongside previously announced headliners Joanna Newsom and The Flaming Lips. Adding a tinge of discomfort to proceedings are Southend's primary purveyors of rejuvinated industrindie These New Puritans, emerging from the unnerring shadows of Hidden to take up arms and guitars vehemently to their Attack Music. Elsewhere, Bristol's celebrated Fisher Price enthusiasts Fuck Buttons heighten the sense of dementia sure to swarm around South Wales this August, long-term Albarn collaborator and cult guitar slinger Simon Tong's Erland & the Carnival roll into town and the hazy sun-drenched drawls of San Francisco are transported to the land of daffodils, leeks and oval balls by Girls. Also added contemporarily are (deep breath): The Wave Pictures, Memory Tapes, Beta Bander Steve Mason, Sleepy Sun, Adem's disco bit-on-the-side Silver Columns, lauded NY oddball caricature Darwin Deez and Manchester's fringed boundary refractors Egyptian Hip Hop. Phew.
