Festival Frolics: Space-age Krautrock, NYC No Wave Funk & Attack Music Out The Back End Of East London. Offset.

If you've been to either of Hainault's Offset Festival's past two editions, you'll know exactly what the score is here. Dots & Dashes got caught up in a haze of moccasins, self-awareness and downright decadence in a forest overlooking the twinkling spires of the suited and booted and beyond. This year, Offset returns once more in the wake of Reading & Leeds Festivals, taking place over the weekend of 4th & 5th September and with a throw-back line up encompassing the second ever UK show from veteran New Yoik funksters Liquid Liquid, as well as dragging Krautrock overlords Cluster in from the outer realms of the galaxy, it's a stellar rundown of the influences and the influenced that dictate all that's booming from the spangled 80s porn window designs of American Apparel. Elsewhere, These New Puritans come out of hiding to perform a "very special" live show, presumably/hopefully revolving about the inclusion of brass sections, Japanese oddballs Bo Ningen return to scale more tent poles and Sub Pop signings Male Bonding attempt to bowl us over once again. Rolo Tomassi roll back the clocks to last September, albeit with a lick of Californian bronzed skin tone and a new record in tow, to bash out their brand of glitchy Gameboy hardcore and finally, Brooklyn lo-fi disco duo Telepathe pop over for a highly-anticipated late-night show. Bringing the poppier stylings of the spectrum to Hainault via Newbury Park are Richmond charity shop clatterers Mystery Jets and Ali Love, with Brighton haunted house howlers The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Israel's greatest lot ever to wield a flaming drum stick or two Monotonix and fresh from ripping viscerally through a shoestring set in the roasting Ray-Ban tent at Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival, Comanechi. Latest additions to the Hainault bash include the tripped out tropiphoria of Caribou, the post-dubstep majesty of Mount Kimbie, claustrophobic indie doom with a side of introverted experimentation courtesy of Esben & the Witch, and barking eccentricities from the scrambled brain cells of Connan Mockasin.

The abridged line up, thus far, is as follows:

Liquid Liquid * Cluster * Telepathe * These New Puritans * Caribou * Mount Kimbie * Esben & The Witch * Mystery Jets * The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster * Monotonix * Comanechi * Lovvers * Pulled Apart By Horses * Ali Love (live) * Charles De Goal * Rolo Tomassi * Male Bonding * Kap Bambino * Bo Ningen * Art Brut * Connan Mockasin * Factory Floor * Thomas Tantrum * Invasion * Tim Burgess DJ * Factory Floor * Electricity in Our Homes * Rory Phillips (Durrr) * The Murder Act * Shit and Shine * Round * Blue On Blue * Fiction * Death In Plains * Flats * 10LEC6 * Oral Oral * Trailer Trash * Taigen Kawabe
