Caribou's Swim is indubitably one of the greatest records pieced together thus far this year. As too is and was Gold Panda's Lucky Shiner, whilst blaring Fuck Buttons' Olympia out at headphone-wrecking decibel levels gazing out over an Isle of Wight sunset on the way over to Bestival provided one of the most blissful episodes of the summer. Relief then that Britain's minimal electronica titans have given two of Swim's essential moments a rework, Fuck Buttons tackling Kaili, splicing it up under the knife, sellotaping a jittering rhythm section to Dan Snaith's androgynous croon. Gold Panda meanwhile brings rudimentary Gameboy blips to the melancholy-stained Jamelia and sounds somewhere along the lines of technological apocalypse.
Released digitally this week, if you're still without a copy of Swim, and reside either here on this estranged isle or over the channel on the "mainland" buy it now and you'll get a bonus disc of sorts with the aforementioned mixes and heaps more from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Holden, Junior Boys, Walls, etc. tacked on.
