Delightfully disheveled, The Narcoleptic Dancers comprised of fringe fanatics of French and Dutch descent respectively, Anton Louis Jr and Melody Van Kappers are as indispensably eccentric as Nouvelle Vague were they to fill the Royal Albert Hall with wafting cover version strains of Sweep The Leg Johnny's Going Down Swingin' next month. Like a Francophonic Moldy Peaches, the duo's debut EP Not Evident replaces the swagger and snobbery of Adam Green for an altogether more endearing naïvety as xylophones cascade around percussion as minimal as Gaga's diminishing dress size. With a background as intriguing as Kanye West's descent into lunacy revolving around professional footballers in skimpy 70s shorts and gatherings induced by subsequent lower limb tumours, Not Evident reeks of an undiluted glee, and the video to its title-track, directed by Ramon & Pedro, is as kitsch as fuzzy dreams of The Science Of Sleep.
