This year's Bestival was well and truly something to write home about. Rather than speeding postcards off from Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight, we came home to write about it (here) and if the initial announcement for next year's event is anything to go by, we'll be doing just that again this year. Rob Da Bank posted on Twitter earlier that he can never please everyone but he's please us no end this morning; it was down to Robert Smith's The Cure that Dots & Dashes came into being, and they've been duly announced to headline Saturday 10th September 2011 following rife speculation that they'd have played the festival for the past couple of years in a European exclusive, whilst Bobby Gillespie's Primal Scream bring their seminal Screamadelica record to the Isle following a couple of weekend shows that injected the wild back into West London. Elsewhere, dubstep visionaries Magnetic Man have been added to the bill, alongside collaborative vocalist Katy B. On the decks, the likes of DJ Shadow, A Trak and veteran vinyl scratcher Grandmaster Flash will all be in attendance, and there's a rather special festival show from estranged Beach Boy Brian Wilson, set to wash up on the shores of the Isle aboard the Red Funnel fleet. Crystal Castles, Robyn, Norman Jay, Diplo, LFO and Omar Souleyman are also set to reaffirm the September bash as Britain's Best Major Festival following last week's triumph at the annual Festival Awards. Congratulations all round, both retrospectively and progressively.
