If Screamadelica-era Primal Scream had happened upon Cults' Madeline Follin two decades ago (may seem somewhat implausible, although she did reportedly sign her first recording contract only slightly later at the tender age of nine), kept Andrew Weatherall onboard, and roped in another contemporary prodigy on production duties in the form of our fave Finn, Drifter, there's a whiff of a possibility that the result would come out sounding something like Illuminations, the first track to be lifted from a forthcoming EP entitled Making Waves, by London-based trio Sunless '97. It is in fact produced by the ever-excellent Kwes, and will be released November 21st by the equally ace Abeano under their imprint, Abeano Music. Fizzling with the freshness of spores newly emitted from an hallucinatory mushroom, it takes some beating, feeling and almost tasting like spattered ocean spray caught on swirling winds.
