Holidays Are Coming... She & Him.

Midway through November and we're all immediately acting as if Christmas were to crop up on November 25th this time around. End of year lists are already emerging from the perpetual blog snowfall (we're holding out for December), ad breaks are perpetuated by the glowing hum of seasonal garb and gunk, and now She & Him have outed an unashamedly festive number by the name of Christmas Day. Lifted from A Very She & Him Christmas (out November 28th), it features Zooey Deschanel cooing of never outgrowing "the thrill of Christmas day", of how "the Christmas spirit grows with each new day." Atop M. Ward's perky, heartwarmingly mellow guitar lines, were it not Deschanel it'd perhaps have you ripping open every door of the (presumably/possibly) already-bought advent calendar in disgust, scoffing all twenty-five chocs and calling the whole thing off. However what with it being Zooey and her oh-so-gooey vocals, and given that it may be lonesome this Christmas for She, all is forgiven as Richard Hawley-like guitars powdered with reverb send well-wrapped daydreams toddling off down a snow-lined 5th Avenue. Just don't forget those She & Him mittens...

And here's the flip side to the single out December 19th, The Christmas Waltz.
