On the Horizon: Illusions of Grandeur, KO KO.

Not to be muddled with that extortionate haunt down the comparatively plush end of Camden, KO KO is the moniker of Los Angeleno siblings Ryan and Taylor Lawhorn and, between the breezy Miike Snow slush of Float and the Auto-Tuned sterility of So Strange with its Zager & Evans-esque plodding chord progression lies two minutes, thirty-four of saddening perfection: Intermission. Far from the preordained interval its designation may insinuate, it's the utterly spectacular centrepiece; the essential listen. Its slippery guitar lines as simple as they are irresistible; its vocal harmonies dripping in a lukewarm reverb it's evocative of Sharon Van Etten's Magic Chords in structure and gentle sway and, perhaps a little contentiously, we'd imply a preference for this one right here...
