I'd instead insist that the gleampop brilliance of The Fritz is so immaculate that it's a wonder it wasn't scrupulously selected by a board of stiff execs mouldering around a major label round table as States exudes one of the finest choruses heard this year thus far. All elongated syllables, he croons: "Do-ooh-wooh you-ooh-ooh realise?" atop guitar work jerkier than any strip of dried thigh. Dubious he could ever register just how superlative this saccharine summertime hunk really is...
