Interminable Blip, SBTRKT.

Pick a word. Any word. Now repeat ad infinitum, 'til it begins to shed every iota of initial meaning and ends up becoming indiscernible word putty jumbled up on the tip of your tongue. The term, or rather the track Terminal has begun to have a similar effect on my ears this afternoon, and that's no bad thing. Whilst the eponymous Young Turks début from SBTRKT contained some truly captivating moments (many of which came courtesy of Aaron Jerome's favoured vocalist, Sampha) his most recent work has taken a turn for the instrumental. Again, no bad thing: Gloss was sumptuous, post-estival sundown sound whilst today's offering layers glitch, upon blip, upon unabating garage beat. As with every infamous addiction, can't quite pinpoint what it is that's hooked me right up in there though...

SBTRKT play(s) Shepherd's Bush Empire Thursday/ Friday of this week.
