Whilst London label Young & Lost Club may not spring to mind as energetically and instantly as the likes of Domino and XL when reeling off illustrious lists of British indie labels, in all likelihood one of your preferred peddlers of light-hearted indie, past or present, will have humbly begun scuffing up their bumblebee barnets and shuffling awkwardly to rather magnificent indie pop whilst housed within the Club's fuzzy embrace. Renowned for releasing initial outings from the likes of Golden Silvers, Bombay Bicycle Club, Semifinalists and Everything Everything amongst other alluring alumni, the label's fingers are not only in many musically gifted pies but undoubtedly on the pulse. In anticipation of the label's 5th birthday, as well as a blast-from-the-indie-pop-past compilation taking in almost as many tracks as a 1999 Now! That's What I Call Music double disc, Y&L Club will also be printing a number of charming canvas bags, one of which will be given away from Dots & Dashes on this very page (allegorically speaking, at least).
To be in with a shot of "bagging" one of these splendid bags, send an e-mail over to dotsanddashes@live.com with conspiracy theories as to why Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong never actually got round to releasing their eponymous LP following Young & Lost Club's offering of superlative early single, Lucio Starts Fires along with a name and a UK address before the end of April. The most ridiculous response will reap this rather ripe reward. If only we were Young & Lost forever...
