Festival Frolics: Camden Crawl 2010 Sprawls Splendidly

Not content with injecting the streets of Camden with a fair old smattering of acts across the indie spectrum taking in the likes of Teenage Fanclub, The Drums, Dead Meadow and The Chapman Family a splendid shot has just been added to the lethal musical concoction that's sure to crumble a fair few crawlers come May. Leading the line up additions to this year's Camden Crawl are Roundhouse headliners and respective sweethearts of mascara-masked emo pop and girl group major politicians, Lostprophets and, quite bizarrely, Sugababes. Whacked-out American punksters We Are Scientists, mad-hatter MC and Witness to the Fitness that's sure to be needed to power through 22 hours of music in 2 days Roots Manuva and post-punk heroes Gang Of Four. Elsewhere across a hefty handful of venues smeared across two miles of saliva-soaked North London street, mercurial mademoiselles of the Mercury Music Prize Ms. Dynamite and Speech Debelle prescribe hip-hop doses on Saturday and Sunday respectively and jazz genii Polar Bear return to the brassy backstreets of London's prime punk hangout and piping hot slabs of electro electricity from Super Basques (via West London) Crystal Fighters (pictured. Sort of...). The jagged, shark-toothed surf-pop of Surfer Blood and the summer-time lo-fi slump of Best Coast stand, alongside the Xtatic Truth Crystal Fighters and the garbled ghetto electronica of Gold Panda as Dots & Dashes' understated highlights of the weekend, just in case you were wondering...
