Festival Frolics: The Glorious Lands of the Isle of Wight, Bestival 2011.

Last year's Bestival was fuelled by undying love for incessant dub, continually crescendoing anticipation for Sunday night's Fever Ray blow-out and a radiant Chic. As previously announced, this year's festival is to be ignited by Bobby Gillespie ranting and raving to the tune of Screamadelica, Brian Wilson bringing that Lucky Old Sun to the Isle of Wight (the site can't turn to sludgy fudge cake with everyone's favouritest Beach Boy hanging around the day, right?) and a particularly special Saturday night headline spot from Robert Smith and The Cure. A few more highly substantial names can now be added to the already-incendiary bill: not a day devoid of PJ Harvey's superlative latest has past since its release last month, and fortunately Polly Jean is to set sail for this year's Bestival, to be joined down in Robin Hill Country Park by chameleonic pop gargantuan Kelis, hip hop originators Public Enemy and overenthusiastic antipodean types Pendulum. Other new additions to the bill include Brighton beach bod Fatboy Slim, sultry indie from fellow south coasters The Maccabees and extravagant popstrel Paloma Faith. DJs keeping things ticking over into the early hours include Joy Orbison, Andrew Weatherall, DJ Hype and A Skillz amongst hordes of others.
