Competition: Win Passepartout Tickets to Le Guess Who? with Dots & Dashes.

By the time Bestival reared its beautiful, shockingly sun-tinged head back in September, the icy evening temperatures seemed to suggest that the season for festivalling, with its inherent debauchery and overpricing on everything, had come to a tumultuous close. However with Swn taking place way out west (or Cardiff to be a little more precise), CMJ infesting New York, Binnacle overhauling The Old Blue Last, and Iceland Airwaves wafting around on the distant volcanic isle that barking old Björk calls home (or indeed heim) recently, there's no longer a need to voyage halfway around the globe to seek out festivals and valid alternatives for during these dank and drizzly months. A mere fraction of the world's circumference from the UK is Utrecht in Holland, where Le Guess Who? takes place, a metropolitan festival that this year boasts just about its most formidable rundown to date. Taking place between November 24th and 27th, the 2011 bash will feature oneiric sounds from BRAIDS, Still Corners, Zola Jesus, and Panda Bear, while somewhat more confrontational stuff is to be supplied by Copenhagen upstarts Iceage, psych mic throttlers Bo Ningen, and 4AD's enigmatic doom-laden beat monger Zomby (provided he shows up to put his shift in). Other highlights include shows from Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, a rare appearance from Low, Gang Gang Dance, and Suuns. We'd also highly recommend catching Rocketnumberninefresh from supporting Radiohead over in New York alongside Kieran Hebden, their imminent Lone Raver EP (out November on Soul Jazz) ought to be a truly special record, and is available for preorder from Boomkat right here, right now.

A more fully formed line up looks something like:

And why exactly are we telling you all this? Well, because we've got a pair of passepartout tickets to thrust your way, allowing access to all four days of the festival. To be in it to win it, just answer this (relatively) simple question:

Lead vocalist of Calgary's BRAIDS, Raphaelle Standell-Preston forms one half of a similarly dreamy outfit. What's the name of said outfit? If in need of help, they featured amongst our favoured twenty releases of 2010.

To enter email your answer along with your name to festivalfrolics@dotsanddashes.co.uk. For further info on the festival, the official site can be located here.

Our winner has now been notified. Thank you for every last one of your entries - we've had an unprecedentedly amazing response to our Le Guess Who? competition. Hold on in there with us for coverage of this year's festival, and for future competitions of a similarly frivolous nature. Alternatively, if you were unfortunate this time around, tickets can be acquired via the official site. Thanks once again, and good night.
