Having enchanted with the astoundingly hi-fi barbershop pop of The Good Feeling Music of
Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele, May's evidently ditched the four-string in favour of lethargic funk fuelled by propulsive drum machine patterns and shimmering synths that smack of 'chillwave'. Fun is one of two tracks, along with
Wedding Day, to have been outed off sophomore LP Do Things (expected June on
Paw Tracks), and sounds like Gruff Rhys and an infinity of funk/ soul records eloping to the sort of paradisiacal realm incarnated on May's Do Things cover with Connan Mockasin, having fallen for his girlish charms and general, genuinely overpowering androgyny. Oh and it's accompanied by May pulling that quintessential ATP pose in that oversized deckchair.
