On the Horizon: Slouchy Squall, Bare Pale.

London pairing Bare Pale comprise bassist Joe Corrigan (right) and guitarist Matthew Rickelton (left, for what it's worth) and judging by the latter's email address, they're another disturbingly young act erring on the side of sludgy atmospherics to quake Camber Sands cabin. Akin to fellow shoegaze teamsters Honeyslide, the instrumental – or at least unintelligible – murky melancholia of As Always strikes a quite searing chord. Its chords meanwhile sound absolutely gargantuan; like unrelenting washes of towering roller primed to pound South Coast shingle.

Surely Great Escape-bound sometime around this time next year, Bare Pale are already a non-negotiably great band and the surly wax and wane to Mexican Wave further examples their great capacity to carve out lackadaisical slacker-pop hitz around two minutes and 3MB in stature.
