Festival Frolics: Hand In Hand With Manchester's Parklife.

As a perpetual stream of festival announcements spurts through the nooks and crannies of t'internet like fluo Play-Doh throughout the ides of March, this year's Parklife Weekender ought to grab its fair share of digital column inches. Returning to Manchester's Platt Fields Park for a second consecutive year on June 11th and 12th, from midday to 11pm the event promises twenty-two hours of bass-friendly frolics, with a line up lined with gargantuans and genre-straddlers alike. Saturday features chameleonic pop idol Kelis, New York disco delights Hercules & Love Affair, downtempo wunderkind Jamie xx, a rare live show from Matthew Dear and a UK return from DOOM who headlines the Now Wave stage. All that in eleven hours, with a presumably stellar headliner yet to come. Sunday meanwhile boasts electro monarchs in the form of Metronomy, Erol Alkan and that name renowned in even the most placid of households, 2manydjs. Turntablism comes from DJ Shadow who headlines the Thrasher stage, whilst Skream & Benga take to the Main Stage and Grandmaster Flash keeps things fresh and juicy on the Juicy & Friends stage.
