On the Horizon: Evigt grinende, Thulebasen.

You know when you happen upon a song so spectacular that because it's gone unnoticed for six months, or years, or longer still you feel as though you've genuinely been wasting time without it schnooked into your existence? Well, that's precisely how I feel about Thulebasen's Forever Grinning. The lead track from an EP released back in March via greatly named Danes Tambourhinoceros (they that brought the world both Iceage and Treefight For Sunlight) and fellow Scandindie Splendour, it's little wonder labels were scrabbling, and in the end compromising for its release. Graceful psych softer than a blush, it's the sort of weird-out Connan Mockasin never quite gets right far too frequently: all off-kilter chords, cavalier guitar frantics, gull samples and alternate universe grandeur, it's a spacey ace in the pack.
