On the Horizon: 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, Foxygen.

No one band – no matter how life-affirming their live show may be – brings to existence the imperative vitality that O2 may do. And yet, despite sounding like The Turtles washed up on the polychromatic shores of a new psychedelic terrain mapped out in the wake of the '60s, '70s, and such there's a great indispensability to Foxygen's Shuggie. Hugely addictive once first heard, it pertains to the debonair glitz of Low-era Bowie were it backwashed in time to a paisley tune, as these giddy few minutes walk like The Zombies; talk like Iron Butterfly; and gurgle like those droll neo-R'n'B stalwarts of Montreal, spewing time signature-eschewing effervescence all the while. Suck it up down below.
Début full-length We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic is out on Jagjaguwar January 21st.
